The workshop was hosted by the Ban Nam Khop OTOP Nawatwithi tourism community from Phitsanulok Province, in collaboration with Ms. Waranya "Pang" Homthub, Managing Director of Pracharath Rak Samakkee Phitsanulok (Social Enterprise) Co., Ltd. Her organization has played a pivotal role in promoting and adding value to toddy palm products, creating a circular economy that is tangibly linked to natural resource conservation.

In the Ban Nam Khop community, the toddy palm tree was once an integral part of their heritage—central to their food, culture, and economy. However, as times changed, its use dwindled until it almost faded into memory. Reviving the wisdom of handmade Lod Chong is therefore not just about preserving a traditional food; it's about resurrecting the very essence of "Thainess" embedded in the community's lifestyle.
During the workshop, the Lod Chong noodles, made from toddy palm flour, were crafted into more than just the familiar long strands. Participants learned to create shapes like fish, flowers, stars, and hearts. The hands-on process, from kneading the dough to shaping it with molds and their own imagination, was both enjoyable and deeply meaningful.

This initiative is driven by Pracharath Rak Samakkee Phitsanulok (Social Enterprise) Co., Ltd., which focuses on systematically adding value to toddy palm products through strategic marketing and distribution. Revenue generated from processed goods like candied palm seeds, palm cakes, and Lod Chong noodles is reinvested into a community fund to expand the cultivation of toddy palm trees. This creates a continuous cycle of economic growth and resource conservation.

“The word ‘conservation’ extends beyond preserving natural resources; it’s about preserving the Thai way of life,” said Ms. Waranya Homthub. “We want the new generation to understand that this wisdom holds immense value and can truly be part of a thriving community economy.”
The SX IDEA LAB thus serves as more than just an event space; it's a stage that bridges traditional knowledge with contemporary learning through tangible, hands-on experiences. The toddy palm Lod Chong workshop not only gave participants a taste of local wisdom but also initiated a deeper understanding of sustainability—from conserving natural resources to safeguarding the culture and way of life that shape Thai identity.

In this Decade of Action, the SX IDEA LAB proves that sustainability can begin with what is close to us, growing from the grassroots of a community. This workshop was more than a lesson in making a traditional dessert; it was a revival of the value of Thai wisdom in the modern world.
The "strands of Lod Chong" are more than just dessert noodles; they represent the strands of Thai wisdom being woven back to life. They are a reflection of a conservation that doesn't stop at natural resources but extends to preserving the very meaning of being Thai in a changing world.
