Art x Science: Two Thai Youth Teams Showcase Energy-Themed Theatre Plays at SX2025
The SX Talk Stage at SUSTAINABILITY EXPO 2025 became a vibrant space for creativity and science communication this past Friday, September 26, as two talented Thai youth groups presented powerful and insightful science dramas.
"The King and Mission" by ITPC Little Monsters
The ITPC Little Monsters team from Chiang Mai University Demonstration School, who will represent Thailand in the Kindergarten and Primary level at The 10th International Science Drama Competition 2025 in Singapore, performed their play titled "The King and Mission."

The play tells the story of a city heavily reliant on coal and oil, which faces severe pollution and widespread illness among its people. A magic mirror reveals that fossil fuels are the root of the problem. The king then learns about clean energy from other cities and uses this newfound knowledge to transform his own city, making it bright and sustainable once more. The drama concluded with the powerful message: “Every change begins with today’s vision for a better world,” illustrating that environmental stewardship is something everyone can practice.

"The Energy Equation" by Team Nebula
Team Nebula from Newton Sixth Form presented an English-language musical theatre piece titled "The Energy Equation," skillfully blending acting, singing, and English language skills.

The play explores the complex relationships within a research team building a power plant to fulfill the dream of their late professor. A narrator explains the process of electricity generation, which is mirrored in the characters' interpersonal dynamics. Team Nebula creatively transformed a potentially difficult scientific topic into an entertaining and accessible format. Their success was validated when they won 2nd Runner-up and the Best Actor Award at an international competition in Singapore. The performance ended with the thought-provoking line, “Nothing stays the same,” a sentiment that applies equally to relationships and the science of energy.

The science drama performances by both teams showcased how science communication is evolving and adapting to reach a broader audience. It represents another powerful voice from the new generation, ready to create change for a sustainable world.
