Discover the Journey Toward a New Balance for Yourself and the Planet

The countdown has begun for Sustainability Expo 2024 (SX2024)—taking place from September 27 to October 6, 2024, between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM, at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). On the G floor, visitors will embark on a journey to seek balance—for themselves and for the Earth—in a time of global challenges and rapid change.

1) SEP INSPIRATION

Meet model organizations that have successfully applied the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) toward sustainability. Highlights include:

  • Chaipattana Foundation

  • Utokapat Foundation

  • Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII)

  • Department of Local Administration (Ministry of Interior)

  • Office of the Royal Development Projects Board (ORDPB)

  • Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage

  • “Religion and Sustainability” showcase

This zone also features a Prologue that sheds light on the consequences of rapid development and human activities—how today’s actions impact tomorrow’s future. Through an immersive experience, visitors will be inspired to see sustainability as a shared responsibility. The Prologue comprises three thematic zones:

  • Reflection of Impact – A visual and emotional journey through a destabilized world caused by climate change and extreme weather patterns, serving as a wake-up call to take action.

  • Point of No Return – Illustrates the consequences of human progress—industrial revolutions, overpopulation, and rising greenhouse gases—leading to the present state of global boiling and extreme climate volatility.

  • Hope and Help – A space of optimism, showcasing real-life change-makers who are making tangible impacts. Featured here is the powerful art installation “Story from Plateau” by Boonpon Photisan, which reflects on the devastating legacy of landmines in Laos. The piece portrays personal stories of trauma and resilience, underscoring the universal truth: war benefits no one.

2) Better Me

Adopting a sustainable lifestyle begins with simple personal behavior changes. As we age, our physical and mental health evolves—so it's essential to prepare for healthy and fulfilling senior years through proper care and nutrition.

This zone is presented through two key themes:

  • Healthy & Happy Living – Features innovations for elderly care including assistive robots like Mr. Muse, the friendly “Robot Pencil,” and RoboThespian, the humanoid robot. It also focuses on nutrition for all life stages, mental health awareness, financial planning for retirement, and end-of-life preparation.

  • Lifelong Learning – A space for intergenerational learning and innovation, showcasing community-based social enterprises, university collaborations, and creative startups that aim to improve the lives of seniors and society at large.

3) Better Living

Climate change is largely driven by greenhouse gas emissions from human activity. This zone encourages visitors to discover ways to reduce their carbon footprint through daily actions and learn from leading organizations implementing carbon-reduction strategies—from emission control to carbon capture technologies.

The exhibit takes visitors through a three-part experiential journey:

  • Awareness – Understanding climate challenges

  • Transition – Shifting mindsets and habits

  • Action – Inspiring practical steps toward a low-carbon lifestyle

4) Better Community

This zone explores how strong communities and collaborative groups can build a sustainable quality of life. It highlights initiatives focused on human-centered urban development and showcases the work of over 50 partners from both local and international networks—ranging from individuals to private sector and government organizations.

These projects demonstrate real-world success in integrating social, environmental, and economic sustainability at the community level.

5) Better World

Art for Earth’s Balance – This zone features a diverse art exhibition that reflects environmental and social sustainability. Enjoy works such as:

  • Photography from the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand

  • Winning pieces from the White Elephant Art Competition

  • Selections from National Geographic Thailand

  • The SX Hall of Fame: SX Shaper Award

  • Finalists of the 5th Trash to Treasure Art & Design Contest

  • Legal Portrait Studio – where all proceeds support charitable organizations
